After raw sugar is unloaded from the barge, it is weighed with this scale. It is a very important piece of equipment as it determines how much money the refinery pays out to sugar mills. From the raw sugar storage shed, raw sugar is transported to the Mingler by means of floor hatches and covered conveyor belts that move from ground level to the 5th floor of an adjacent building known as the Wash House.
